On October 21 we walked through a busy night market with friends. Clog-shaped shoes were piled high at almost every stall, many of them small kids’ pairs already covered in charms. We picked a few up and took photos. None of them said they were Crocs, but at a glance they look close enough that a parent in a hurry could mix them up.

These photos are ours, from that evening. We’re not saying any of these pairs are counterfeit. Most look like generic “clog-style” shoes. The point is what to check so you know what you’re buying, whether it’s at a stall or on a shopping site.

What we saw

Small clog-style shoes decorated with pearl, chain and gold butterfly charms in front of a pile of clogs
Bling lookalikes: pearls, chains and gold butterflies pushed into the vent holes.
  • Charms come pre-loaded. Pearls, chains and butterflies already fill the vent holes. Real Crocs are usually sold plain, with Jibbitz bought separately.
  • Lots of small, dangly parts. Chains and pearls look cute but can snag or come loose.
  • Thick, chunky soles on many pairs, closer to platform styles than the Kids’ Classic.
Cream kids clog-style shoes with a large cartoon charm held up at a night street market
A kids’ pair with a big cartoon charm. We couldn’t spot a Crocs logo anywhere on it.
  • No Crocs logo that we could see. On real Crocs, the round buttons that hold the heel strap carry the Crocs logo.
  • Large decorative charm on the toe. Fun for kids, but check how it’s attached before a toddler gets hold of it.

Charms and little kids: check before you buy

Charm-heavy shoes are what kids want, and they’re exactly what parents of toddlers should check. Small charms, pearls and chains are small parts. Jibbitz packaging carries small-parts warnings for young children, and the same common sense applies to lookalike charms. For toddlers, buy plain clogs and add one or two big charms yourself, or skip charms until they’re older. See should I buy Crocs for my toddler? and how to remove Jibbitz.

Is a lookalike ever OK?

Buy it if…

  • It’s clearly sold as a generic clog, not as “Crocs”
  • It’s for a quick, rough use like a beach day
  • You check the fit and comfort in person

Skip it if…

  • The seller claims they’re Crocs at a price that’s too good to be true
  • It’s for a toddler and covered in small charms
  • Your child will wear them all day, every day

FAQ

How can I tell if kids’ Crocs are real?

Look for the Crocs logo on the strap buttons, a very light and soft feel, little smell, and a trusted seller.

Are clogs with charms already attached real Crocs?

Usually not. Real Crocs are generally sold plain, and Jibbitz are bought separately. Pre-loaded pairs are often lookalikes.

Are charms safe for toddlers?

Small charms are small parts. For toddlers, choose plain clogs or a few large charms, and check them often.

Are lookalike clogs bad?

Not always. Generic clogs sold honestly can be fine for light use. Avoid pairs sold as “Crocs” at a suspicious price.

Final verdict

Check the logo, the feel and the seller

Lookalike kids’ clogs are fun and everywhere. If you want real Kids’ Crocs, the strap logo, light weight and a trusted seller tell you most of what you need.
