Look at a pair of Crocs covered in tiny decorations, and you are looking at Jibbitz. These small charms have become almost as famous as the clogs themselves. But they did not start inside a big company. They started at a kitchen table with a family and a simple idea.

What Are Jibbitz Charms?
Jibbitz are small decorative charms designed to clip into the holes on top of Crocs. They come in countless designs, including letters, emojis, animals, sports themes, food shapes and characters from films and games.
Jibbitz let you change the look of your Crocs whenever you like. Two people can own the same pair but make them look completely different with their choice of charms.
The Story Behind Jibbitz
Jibbitz began with Sheri Schmelzer and her family in Colorado. Sheri and her three children started decorating the family’s Crocs by pushing small charms into the holes. The idea caught on, and Sheri and her husband Rich turned it into a business called Jibbitz in Boulder.
By 2006, the company had more than 300 designs sold in thousands of stores. That year, Crocs agreed to buy Jibbitz, and the charms became the official Crocs charm brand. The company’s slogan captured the idea perfectly: “So, that’s what the holes are for!”

How Do Jibbitz Work?
Each Jibbitz charm has a button-style back that pushes through a hole on the upper of compatible Crocs. Once it is in place, it stays put until you remove it.
Our guides on how to put Jibbitz on Crocs and how to remove Jibbitz from Crocs explain the steps.
Which Crocs Do Jibbitz Fit?
Jibbitz fit Crocs styles with holes on the upper, such as the Classic Clog and many platforms, sandals and kids’ styles. Styles without holes, such as some work clogs and boots, do not have space for them. Our guide on whether Jibbitz are universal explains more.
Why People Love Jibbitz
Imagine a child getting their first pair of Crocs. They choose charms of their initials, a favourite animal and a cartoon character. Suddenly, the shoes feel like theirs. That sense of personal ownership is a big part of why Jibbitz are so popular.
Many collaborations also include exclusive Jibbitz, such as those that come with Hello Kitty Crocs.
A Safety Note
Jibbitz are small parts and are not suitable for very young children who put objects in their mouths. For older children, check that charms are secure.
Final Thoughts
Jibbitz charms began with a family decorating their Crocs and grew into Crocs’ official charm brand. Today, they are one of the easiest ways to make a pair of Crocs truly your own.
